Shipon Mia was once a bus helper and his life took a drastic turn when a collision between two buses left him with a missing leg. The trauma of the accident was compounded by the bullying and discrimination he faced from his community. Only his family stood by him during those dark times. However, everything changed when he discovered amputee football. A chance to practice the sport reignited his passion for life, and his coach recognized his potential.
Through perseverance and dedication, Shipon transformed from a victim of circumstances to a respected figure in his community. No longer defined by his disability, he is now celebrated as a ‘footballer.’
To support his family, Shipon runs a small restaurant. While amputee football is still relatively unknown in Bangladesh, Shipon’s success has helped raise awareness and inspire others.
